The two layers
We split our emails into two buckets:
### 1. Always sent (you can't turn these off)
These keep your account safe and your billing predictable. They go out regardless of any preference:
- Account security — sign-ins from a new device, password changes, email changes
- Billing — subscription welcome, plan changes, renewals, cancellations, payment failures
- Account lifecycle — deletion confirmations, plan upgrades, complimentary-access expiry warnings
- Critical service notices — anything we'd need to tell you about your account that you'd want to know
### 2. Optional (gated by your preferences)
Everything else. You decide whether you want them:
- New enquiry alerts — emailed when a customer fills in your enquiry form
- Daily to-do rundown — 07:00 UTC summary of overdue / due-today / no-date tasks
- Marketing — product updates, tips, occasional offers from Vontra
Where to change them
Settings → Account → Contact preferences.
You'll see two layers of control:
- Send me non-essential platform emails — master switch. If this is unticked, we suppress all optional emails to your login address. The "always sent" category above still goes through.
- Send me occasional product updates — separate toggle for marketing. Off by default.
A category-level Notifications card under Settings lets you fine-tune which specific optional emails you want (new enquiries on, todo rundown off, etc.).
